I just finished my trip to Turkey, and it was truly beautiful! However, following the advice from a Chinese app, Xiaohongshu (AKA Red notebook), I made a mistake. Five days after returning to China, I'm still suffering from diarrhea from the meal I had on my last day. I went to the restroom over a dozen times a day. I don't understand how anyone could have the audacity to recommend such a restaurant. I usually eat a lot of raw and marinated seafood, and I've never had an upset stomach in my life! I'm sharing this with my fellow travelers to avoid any negative experiences! After this meal, my GF and I kept going to the restroom. We ordered the cheapest dishes on the menu, but we still spent 2500 Lira. The other dishes were very expensive, and the food was mediocre. We even left some unfinished. Aside from the polite women in the restaurant, there was no service. I even made reservations on Google in advance. Most of the people who went there were Chinese. Even more outrageous, this was the first time in a long time that a waiter asked for a tip up front. That's really shameless! ———————— I've never seen such a poor restaurant. They treat Chinese people like a wallet! 1. After I gave them a heads-up, the guy had the nerve to private message me and question if I was a Konak-employed troll to attack them. After I explained, he changed the subject. 2. He then questioned me about why the waiter shouldn't tell the owner when giving tips. He claimed their ingredients were fresh, and they were busy every day, so there wouldn't be expired food. What kind of gangster logic and blaming the customer is this? Furthermore, the restaurant is in a dingy, run-down building on a filthy beachfront street, with trash out of the windows. In the two hours I spent there, only five or six tables showed up. That's why there were no customers even when I arrived an hour early for my reservation. He even told me they were busy cleaning out expired food. 3. During the conversation, I remembered that the only time I'd eaten hair was at his restaurant. He then attacked me, asking why I didn't contact them to replace the dish. How could someone who didn't want to cause trouble in a foreign country blame me instead? After seeing that I wasn't a troll, he apologized for the attack on me, acting arrogantly and unapologetically throughout. He said his restaurant hadn't had any negative reviews in four years. Are you sure it wasn't someone else's posts and you didn't see them? I went to the toilet twice while I was writing this short follow-up... My Girlfriend told me to stop harassing him, but one day later, he came to me and disappeared again. Since the store owner is so rude and keeps shirking responsibility in private messages, I have to post him online.
Dear Yekenci team, As we expressed to the waiter, a manager upstairs, and again on our way out, we left your restaurant extremely disappointed. Our hotel had recommended other restaurants for our celebration, but we chose yours because a friend who travels often had spoken so highly of it. Unfortunately, we now regret that decision. From the moment we sat down, we felt pressured by the waiter to order quickly and make an instant decision. We were convinced to take the seafood platter, being assured that everything we wanted would be included. This was not the case. 1)The platter arrived with fish that was both dry and cold. 2)The promised sauces, rice, and chips were missing, and we had to ask twice before they eventually arrived 15 minutes later — again cold. 3)The waiter explained that one of the chefs hadn’t yet come on shift, but in that case the platter should have been held back until all elements were ready. Coordinating the food properly is the restaurant’s responsibility. Although we were offered a glass of wine and lemon water “not to complain” — as the waiter admitted he was afraid of getting into trouble — this does not change the fact that the meal itself was unacceptable. We work in the industry, and we understand that mistakes happen. However, what separates good service from bad is how those mistakes are handled. Instead of leaving with a sense of hospitality, we left feeling disappointed and regretting our choice for such an important celebration. We are giving you the opportunity to respond before we leave a review on TripAdvisor, as we feel other guests should be aware that their experience may turn out the same. Regards, Talita and Steven Hudson
